I love history, the furniture charms me. It's as much about the challenge of building the piece as the finished product. I like to take the romantic lines and contrast them with the modern materials.
With fashion being a Muse for my work, I was inspired by the Spring/Summer 2008 show by Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga. Carrying the same contrasting interest and story as my sculptures, i.e. Masculine vs Feminine and Modern vs Retro. Modern, masculine, perfectly tailored, architectural skirts and jackets made from bright, bold, feminine, flower-print silk are sewn on top of the neoprene that gives it Shape.
